Welcome to Recipes For Tomorrow!
Hi and welcome to Recipes For Tomorrow ! Have you ever sat down and realized that cooking is becoming a real chore, or that you've been making the same thing over and over? Or that speed comes before taste, and convenience before appreciation of good food? Yep, any one who cooks has been there. It's not always easy, or convenient to carve out the time to simply enjoy the food we prepare for our families. But food has always been a way to connect to loved ones, just by giving us time around the table to be company. And with something we can enjoy, consciously or not, on our forks, the company is subtly improved. And so, it's time to make cooking fun again!
There are several excellent cooks in our family, and although that may not always be good on our waistlines, it makes for great company and the occasional "interesting" meal. This blog is set up to share all our family's best recipes, cooking adventures, tips and techniques, and even a few of those *ahem* mishaps that tend to occur on occasion.
We have a wide variety of interests when it comes to what comes out of our kitchens. Growing up, dad would always say "How do you know you don't like it if you never tried it?" And so, we've learned to try many different foods at least once before we made our final decision, even if it was outside of our usual comfort range. Most of the time we grew to like whatever it was. Sometimes, though...not so much.
Even so, everyone still has their likes and dislikes...so... everything gets tweaked to suit our own tastes. So since no recipe is ever set in stone, we would just like to give you the basics to create your own family favorites from our lists.
Ultimately, we would like to create a list of recipes that go beyond just the usual entrees and desserts, and include international dishes that we've come to enjoy. We've had a lot of interest in preserving tips and techniques beyond just jams and home canning. And we'd like to include soups and salads, homemade sauces, oils and vinegars, and a whole variety of just plain good food that we've come to enjoy. All in all, we hope for this site to become not just a collection of good recipes, but also a way to share some good memories as well!
Enjoy!!!
